Ugadi In-house celebration
In-house Ugadi festival was celebrated on Tuesday, 21st March 2023 at school.
Children came in colourful clothing .They were given a warm welcome by the teachers. The school was
decorated with traditional symbols and motifs associated with the festival, such as mango leaves, flower
garlands, and rangoli designs. The teachers spoke about the festival and its significance through
stories, songs, and activities. The support staff showed the preparation of Ugadi Pachadi during the
celebration. Significance of Ugadi Pachadi, a dish made with six different tastes representing the
various emotions of life was shared with children. Children made beautiful artefacts related to the
festival. Few students performed a dance on a Telugu song to share their happiness on the onset of the
New Year. Every child enjoyed the celebration and were able to learn about the rich cultural heritage of
India.
Holi Celebrations
Holi is a colourful festival among children as it involves playing with colours
and water, which is a lot of fun for them. Holi in-house celebration was
organized at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on Monday, 6th
March 2023.
The preschool was decorated with colorful streamers and cutouts related to
Holi, and the children were dressed in their best outfits. The teachers had
arranged for various activities to engage the children and make the
celebration a memorable one.
The celebration began with a brief explanation of the significance of the
Holi festival. The teachers explained to the children that Holi is a
celebration of love and unity, and it marks the victory of good over evil.
After the explanation, the children were given small packets of colorful
powder, called ‘Gulal’, the children were thrilled to play with the colours.
They ran around the playground and danced on the Holi tunes. The
teachers also joined in the fun, and everyone had a great time.
Apart from playing with colors, the children also participated in other
activities such as making Holi art work and colouring pictures related to
Holi, and singing Holi songs. Towards the end of the celebration, the
children were treated to some delicious sweets and snacks, which they
enjoyed thoroughly.
In conclusion, the Holi celebration was a fun-filled and memorable event for
the children. It provided an opportunity for the children to learn about the
festival, its significance, and also to have fun with their friends.
Graduation Day Celebrated at Preschool
On Saturday,4 th March 2023, a sunny day, the preschool held its annual graduation ceremony for the
Kindergarten –II students who were moving on to Grade-1. The event was filled with excitement, joy,
and anticipation as parents and teachers watched the little graduates walk down the aisle in their green
graduation robes and caps.
The ceremony began with a prayer by a K2 child and yoga performance, followed by the welcome
speech of the centre head and child. The guest speaker, K2 PTA member spoke on the importance of
early childhood education and how it sets the foundation for a child's future. He also commended the
preschool for its commitment to providing quality education to young children.
After the guest speaker's address, the children displayed their creative abilities through group
dance,
chorus, solo performance etc. The performances were well-rehearsed, and the children showed
confidence and enthusiasm as they performed. The little graduates were called up to receive their
certificates. Each child's name was called, and they walked down the aisle to receive their
certificate
from the centre head and the parents. The children beamed with pride as they received their
certificates, and the parents cheered them on with loud applause.
The event ended with refreshments and photo sessions with the little graduates. The parents expressed
their appreciation to the school for organizing such a memorable event and for providing quality
education to their children.
In conclusion, the graduation day celebration at the preschool was a joyous and memorable event that
celebrated the achievements of the little graduates. It was a fitting tribute to the hard work and
dedication of the teachers and staff who have nurtured and educated the children in their care.
Annual Sports Day
The 8th annual sports day was held on Saturday, 4th February 2023 at Birla Open Minds International
School, Kollur. The event was attended by the parents, teachers, and children of our preschool. The
sports day started at 03:00 pm with the lighting of the torch by the centre head, Ms. Natasha Baruah.It
was followed by planting a sapling by the Parent Teacher Association members from all levels. The
children started the day by singing the school song and oath ceremony followed by the national anthem.
Teachers were felicitated for their hard work and dedication.
The children had to run, jump over hurdles, crawl under a tunnel, and finally cross the finish line
through
different races like monkey race, row row row your boat, relay race etc. The entire event was planned
keeping in mind the theme as nursery rhymes. It was amazing to see the excitement and enthusiasm of
the children as they participated in the event. The parents cheered on their children, and the teachers
encouraged them throughout the race.
Children also displayed wonderful drill performances throughout the event.
After the events, the children were awarded certificates for their participation and performance. The
parents and teachers congratulated the children and took pictures with them.
Overall, the 8th annual sports day was a great success. It was an opportunity for the children to
showcase their physical abilities and team spirit. It was also an opportunity for the parents to see
their
children's progress and growth. The event was well-organized, and the children had a great time. It
was
a day filled with fun, laughter, and memories that will be cherished for a long time.
International Mother Language Day
On February 21st, 2023, we celebrated International Mother Language Day to recognize the importance
of preserving and promoting linguistic and cultural diversity.
The celebration started with a special morning assembly that included a brief introduction about the
significance of the day. The children were then led in singing the national anthem of their country,
followed by a recitation of a few traditional rhymes and songs in their mother tongues.
The highlight of the celebration was a puppet show that the teachers had put up. The thirsty crow story
was delivered in Hindi with the help of puppets.
Overall, the International Mother Language Day celebration at our preschool was a great success. It was
heartwarming to see the
children celebrate and take pride in their mother tongue and cultural identity.
The event was an excellent way to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and encourage young
children to appreciate and respect different languages and cultures.
Republic Day Celebration 2023
Vasant Panchami Celebration 2023
Vasant Panchami was celebrated on Thursday, 26th February 2023 to mark the arrival of spring. We
celebrated by performing puja and aarti to the goddess Saraswati, who is the goddess of knowledge,
music, and arts. Students dressed in yellow, which is considered the colour of spring, and offered
flowers and sweets to the goddess. A K2 child sang the Saraswati Vandana and also encouraged her
classmates to sing along with her. Teachers spoke about the importance of the day and prayed for
knowledge, wisdom, and good health of their class students. The teachers also encouraged the students
to pursue their creative and academic interests as a hobby.
Christmas Celebration 2022
"Jingle Bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.
Oh! What fun, it is to run on a one horse open sleigh…."
The event had filled the school with a festive atmosphere. Christmas tree was
decorated and displayed along with the nativity scene at the entrance.
Teachers decorated the school premises with handmade props that were related to the
festival. Children came to the school, dressed in red and white colour dresses. Children
were able to understand the significance of the festival during the circle time while
discussing with teachers. Children enjoyed singing Christmas carols. Santa Claus
distributed gifts to all the children. Event related videos were shown during the ICT time.
Age appropriate and theme related art activities were conducted in all the levels. All the
children carried their take-away and gifts home. All the children had fun throughout the
event.

Play-Way Method
"Through the play-way method, children learn to cooperate and help each other while playing. Along
with gaining knowledge, it inculcates various other skills in a child. It helps them connect with
peers and teachers- easily facilitating the overall and holistic development of a child."

“Children are the ones who are very vital for deciding how the world will be in future.”
Children's day carnival was very well planned and executed on Monday,14 th
November 2022. Bright and colourful decorations made all the children very happy.
Arrival had a hopping game with attributes to make the children feel special. Photo
booths (Favourite Cartoon Characters) in the garden area were placed. The function
was organized in the yellow zone. A group of parents (one parent from each level)
performed a wonderful skit on unhealthy and healthy food. Children were excited as
the characters interacted with the audience using appropriate props. The parents
were very happy to see and be a part of the occasion. A Magic show was organized
by an expert magician which was enjoyed by all the children. Teachers and children
participated in the magic tricks. Didis also performed the rhyme teddy bear, teddy
bear with proper action and pronunciation. They wore self-made headgear of teddy
bears. Children relished the tasty snack and felt very special when their class
teachers gifted them with handmade gift.
BOMPS Little Champ Talk Show
Gurunanak Jayanti
"‘Ik Onkar', meaning 'One God' who dwells in every one of his creations and
constitutes the eternal truth. The greatest joy can only be found when we live and
believe in complete honesty and truth."
Gurunanak Jayanti was celebrated on Monday, 7 th November 2022.The school was
decorated with buntings and a picture of GuruNanak Ji was placed in the garden
area to help the children understand about the significance of the event.K2 children
performed a skit explaining the 5 teachings guided by the saint for humanity.
Children made beautiful craft items related to the event.
Diwali Celebration
In-house Diwali was celebrated on Friday, 21st October 2022.Arrival time was filled with festive
decoration and music. Children came dressed in traditional wear. Teachers spoke about the importance
of celebrating deepawali during the circle time.
A cultural programme was organized for all the
grades.K2 children performed a skit on the home coming of Rama and the significance of the festival.
Level wise dance performance was well planned and executed by the class teachers. Art activity related
to the event was prepared by the children.

Grandparents Day Celebration
"Grandparents make the world a little softer, a little kinder, and a little warmer."
Grand Parents Day was celebrated on Saturday, 22nd October 2022.
Diwali Mela started with a warm welcome of grandparents with flowers and tilak by K2 students and
teachers. Many grandparents had come from different states of India as they were also happy to join
an event with their grandchildren after a gap of 2 years post pandemic. In the class, Grandparents
introduced themselves and spoke about their grandchildren and how thy celebrate Diwali at home.
K2 children performed a skit on the home coming of Rama and the significance of the festival.
Grandparents were enthralled to see the performance and the patience of the children to deliver the
dialogues with the costumes.
Diwali Mela had various game stalls like balloon stall, try your luck, aim the ball and String the
balls. Children enjoyed with their grandparents. They actively participated in the diya painting
activity too.Delicious snack was enjoyed by all.
In-house Dusshera day celebration
Bathukamma and Dussehra festival were celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on
Friday, 23rd September 2022. All the children came joyfully to school in their traditional attire.
The event started with a power point presentation by the class teachers to narrate the essence of
Dussehra, how it is celebrated in different parts of India and the victory of good over evil. They
also narrated the significance of the regional festival, Bathukamma to the children.
Our support staff danced and sang some traditional songs around the 'Bathukamma', made of colourful
flowers. The children were excited and happy to see their class didis perform the dance on the
stage. Children of all levels presented beautiful dance performances with their teachers related to
the festival. All the children wished their friends and teachers, 'Happy Holidays' before
leaving for the Dusshera break. They happily went back home with the craft work they had prepared
during the day.
In-house Teacher’s day celebration

Teacher’s day was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on Friday, 2nd September,
2022.The K2 parents and children had planned a surprise programme for all the teachers.
Children came dressed to the school, in coloured dress. The school was decorated as per the event.K2
children spoke about Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and the significance of the event. Few children
recited shlokas, poems etc. Few of them danced and also did role plays .The day was enjoyed by the
teachers as well as children.
Inhouse Ganesh Chaturthi Celebration

Mangal Moorti Moriya!
Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 30 th
August, 2022.
Children came dressed to the school, in their traditional attire. The gate was decorated
with leaf toran. A mandap was set up with an eco-friendly Ganesha idol. During the
circle time, the teachers explained the significance of the event and the importance of
being responsible for the environment by using an eco friendly Ganesha. Children of all
the levels performed the aarti infront of the Ganesha idol along with their class teachers
and support staff. Ganesha's favourite food, modak (Laddu) was offered as prasad after
the aarti. The cultural event started with a skit performed by the teachers. Children of all
the levels gave a dance performance to express their love for Lord Ganesha. The
children were provided with musical instruments, during the procession of Ganesha
immersion. They carried their craft work home as a takeaway.
Inhouse Janamashtami Celebration
Janmashtami was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool; Gopanpally on 18th
August 2022. Outdoors was decorated creatively according to the event. The children of
all levels came dressed as Radha/Krishna.
The spirit of celebrating the festival was shared with the children during circle time.
Jhoola with Lord Krishna was placed in the K2 class. Children of all levels took turns to
see Lord Krishna. They chanted haathi ghoda palki, Jai kanhaiya laal ki with great
enthusiasm. All of them cradled Lord Krishna. Teachers performed a skit depicting the
love between Yashodha and Krishna as well as that the universe resided within Krishna.
Dance performances by all the classes were well presented. All the children assembled
for the 'Handi Breaking' ceremony. They were excited and elated dancing to the music
along with the teachers after breaking the handi. The children took their art activities as
a takeaway.
Teacher Training by Ms.Amrit
In-house Independence Day and Rakshabandhan celebration
Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan was celebrated on Thursday,
11th August 2022.The children of K2 level had performed a skit on
Raksha Bandhan. The teachers spoke about the significance of the 75 th
Independence Day. Children sang patriotic songs along with the
teachers and each level showcased their classes’ team work through
group dance. During the art and craft time children decorated rakhis
and later tied the rakhis on each other’s wrists. They also made the
national bird –peacock during the craft time.
Most of the children were able to tell about the importance of
celebrating Rakhi and Independence Day in their own words.
International Tigers Day
International Tigers Day was celebrated on Friday, 29th July 2022 at school.
Teachers explained all about tigers through a power point presentation in the ICT
room. Children had an interactive session where they asked many questions as
well as answered the questions put forward by the teachers as a recapitulation
after the explanation.
The children made tiger mask with paints and cutouts. Later, they dramatized
using the masks they had made.
Holi Celebration

all day, for a child learns more when they are allowed to play."
Our enthusiastic preschoolers had lots of fun with colours during the pre-Holi celebrations.
They could relate to the festival as well as saving the environment while making eco-friendly

Home Chores
Have you ever wondered whether young children feel satisfied when they accomplish a task?
Closely have a look at every expression ,a sense of satisfaction on our preschoolers' faces when they
were able to fold the clothes with the help of DIY tools. Our energetic teachers also patiently guide
them everyday.
We can see that our Kindergarten-1 level children are becoming independent by doing the home chores
taught at school.
Vanmohatsav
“Forest are the lungs of the earth.-Susan George.”
A week-long Vanmohatsav was celebrated from 4th July to 7th July 2022.The children came in green
color dress to
school for the culmination. Teachers planned a wonderful skit –‘Triya and her tree’ to recapitulate
the week
long learning about forests. They enjoyed playing the characters as much as the children loved to
see
the
enactment. An exhibition as set up with flashcards talking all about the forest as well as products
which are
made from forest. Teachers spoke to them about using their wisdom while using things made of wood
and
reuse and
recycle as much as they can at home and school. Children of K1 and K2 level also spoke confidently
about the
characters of the forest they had dressed up as. Children as well as teachers enjoyed the group
activities
related to the event. A plant was given to each child as a take away.
Mud Day
“Mud play is not only a way to make precious childhood memories, it's also a great way for
children to
learn, relax and let out their creativity. It also helps children to develop tactile skills with
sensory play.”
International Mud Day was celebrated on Wednesday, 29th June 2022 at school. All the children came
dressed in brown colour dress. During the circle time the teacher spoke about the importance of mud.
All our children had a lot of fun with the community helper 'Potter’. They could feel and
experience the
molding process. Few children were hesitant to touch the mud but with the encouragement of the
teachers they made an effort to feel it. Children walked on the sensory play and had an exploration
time. Our K2 children had a group discussion on saving soil. They were happy to take the things made
by
the potter.
In-house celebration-Father’s Day
Father’s Day was celebrated on Saturday,
18th June 2022 at school. It was a
spectacular sight to see the father and child
dressed up in the same dress code. Nursery
children held their father’s hand and walked
in blue colour attire, K1 children came
happily in yellow colour dress and K2 s
smartly walked with their parents in red
colour clothes to the event. The staff
members greeted and took photographs of
each pair in the photo booth specially
designed and made for the event. The
school was filled with laughter and giggles
as all the children participated with their
father’s in the activities like ‘Create your
masterpiece with dad’, ‘Dance with dad on a
piece of newspaper’ , ‘Introduce yourself
and your father’ etc. It was surely a
memorable event and played a crucial part
in the settlement of the children during the
transition time of the school. Parent
involvement has always been an integral
part of the Birla Preschools.
Lastly, we thanked our parents for actively
participating in the event. Every child came
up and showed the craft activity they had
made with their parent.

Spark Speak - Happiness is being independent
How does being independent help a child to be happy?
Our young speakers of 'Spark Speak'- Master.Aarnav,Master. Khetsey and Master.
Kushal were able to confidently share that how over a period of time, they were able to
attain an independence in a particular task they took up. They shared that they started
doing small self – care like brushing their teeth, taking a bath by themselves etc. which
gave them confidence to take up and try more daily chores.
Finally, a sense of satisfaction and confidence gave them happiness. They also felt more
reassured in their friendship group when they were able to share about things they could
do on their own. They shared that they no longer had to call out their parents for help
rather help them in many ways. Our preschooler audience shared during the Q and A
about the task they were able to do on their own.
Graduation Ceremony Celebration
"The future belongs to those who believe in the future of their dreams."- Eleanor
Roosevelt.
Graduation ceremony was celebrated on 05 th March, 2022 in our virtual classes on the last day
of K2 level.
K2 children were dressed up in their graduation cap and sash.
The celebration started with the welcome speech by the Centre Head, Ms.Natasha
Baruah
followed by a welcome note by one of the K2 child.
The K2 teachers read a short poem followed by a dance by the K2 children.
The video of their teachers in their previous classes shared their farewell messages wishing them
the very best for their future. Each child shared few lines about their teacher, friends and school.
K2 teachers announced the attributes of each child and the parents presented them with the
certificate and the scroll.
A Thank You note was shared by the Academic Coordinator followed by a Time capsule video
with the photos of the children when they were in Pre-Nursery and Nursery. Parents shared their
experience in the school and appreciated the teachers for all their hard work.
The celebration ended with the commemorative photograph of the batch.
Bonfire Night Celebration
Bonfire night was celebrated on 07 th January, 2022 in our virtual classes in the evening at
06:00 p.m.
The theme of the Bonfire night for K2 and K1 level was rockstar. Children and teachers
were dressed up as rockstars. K2 and K1 level children enjoyed the game come up with
their own name as rockstar and also played the game freeze and dance. Children sang
their favourite song in a different voice. Children posed like the rockstar and had fun
dancing on the party song.
The Nursery level children enjoyed being dressed up in their favourite night suit with
their favourite stuffed toys. Nursery children enjoyed freeze and dance game along with
paper cup blowing. Nursery children enjoyed story time with their peers and teachers.
A short movie video was shown which the children enjoyed with popcorns and their
favourite snack by children of all levels.
All the children participated with great enthusiasm.
Sankranti Celebration
"Til gud ghya ani god god bola."
Sankranti was celebrated on 07 th January, 2022. in our virtual classes.
The teacher spoke about the importance of the festival and how it is celebrated in the
different parts of the country as Bihu, Pongal, Lohri and Makar Sankranti. A skit was
presented by K2 level children which was played in all the classes to throw light on the
way the festival is celebrated across India. Parent involvement activities were conducted
in all levels. K1 A level parent showed the way Sankranti is celebrated in Gujrat with kite
flying. K1 B level parent taught the children how to make laddoos. K2 parents taught
children kite making. A Nursery parent taught children how to make a kite. K1 level
children also made a kite toran. Songs related to the festival were played and children
enjoyed dancing with their friends on the songs. Children participated in playing games
enthusiastically.
All the children participated with great enthusiasm.
Christmas Celebration
"Christmas is the day that holds all time together." - Alexander Smith
Christmas was celebrated on 24 th December, 2021. in our virtual classes.
The day started with general assembly with spark speak by three young primary level
children speaking about their interest and passion. The teacher shared the importance of
the festival and then showed a video of the nativity scene to the children. Children were
encouraged to do art activity of decorating a paper to make gift wrapping paper. Later
children wrapped the Christmas gift with the gift-wrapping paper they made.
Decoration of Christmas tree activity was done in all the levels. If children had a
Christmas tree, they decorated tree otherwise they were encouraged to colour the
Christmas tree template sent to them. Each child was encouraged to share what will they
be doing during Christmas to spread the joy of giving. Children were over joyed when
Santa Claus visited their classes. Children enjoyed games session and played along.
The day ended with Christmas Carols.
A special non fire cooking session was also conducted by one of the parents of Nursery
level as part of our parent involvement programme.
All the children participated with great enthusiasm.
Ghar Mein Bheed - Hasya Natak
Drama being one of the integral teaching tools, every year our teachers are trained in it by various
experts through workshops. They have been using these skills in their classrooms as well as in-house
events regularly. Drama is the most important art form as it allows a person to express, communicate,
collaborate, empathies with others.
We present to you a skit done by our Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanapally staff member's on
Navarasa-Humour. Navarasa stands for 'Nava' means nine, 'Rasa' means emotional state
or
emotions.
National Pollution Prevention Day
Children were made aware of National Pollution Prevention Day in our virtual classes today. The teacher
explained the importance of reducing pollution to save our environment. Children were encouraged to
make their family and friends aware about the importance of controlling pollution.
Children's Day and World Kindness Day
The significance of Deepawali is the removal of darkness and ignorance from the mind and filing it
with
goodness.
Children's Day and World Kindness Day was celebrated on 12th November, 2021in our
virtual classes.
The teachers spoke about the importance of the day and encouraged all the children to be kind and
empathetic. One teacher dressed up as Jawahar Lal Nehru visited all the classes and children enjoyed
celebrating the birthday of chacha Nehru and singing happy birthday song. A happy children's day
message
was recorded by all the teachers for the children and was shown in each class. The message focussed on
encouraging children to be helpful and enjoy their childhood. A magic show was performed by one of the
teachers and it was enjoyed by the children. 30 seconds- and one-minute games were played involving
the
parents and the children. All the parents and children participated enthusiastically in the games.
Children enjoyed the treasure hunt activity.

Dusshra and Bathukamma Celebration
"Festivals promote diversity, they bring neighbours into dialogue, they increase creativity, they offer
opportunities for civic pride, they improve our general psychological well-being."- David

Bathukamma and Dussehra were celebrated on 05 th October, 2021 in our virtual
classes.
The teacher spoke about the importance of the festival and showed a presentation and
video related with the festival depicting the victory of good over evil. A discussion took
place in the class with the help of a video on the different ways this festival is celebrated
in different parts of the country. All the children of K1 and K2 levels enjoyed making
rangoli with their parents and spoke about what they have made and the materials used
for making it. Nursery children made a toran with flower cut outs. Children enjoyed
dancing on Navratri, Bathukamma and Dussehra songs. Under the parent involvement
programme, a parent of K1 level trained in classical music took a session on songs
related to Bathukamma which was enjoyed by all the K1 level children.
All the children participated with great enthusiasm.
Janamasthami Celebration

Janmashtami was celebrated on 30 th August, 2021 in our virtual classes.
The teacher spoke about the importance of the festival and showed a presentation
and video related with Janmashtami and Lord Krishna in all the levels. Children
enjoyed dancing on songs about Lord Krishna. All the children dressed up in
traditional attire. Many boys were dressed up as little Krishna and the girls were

Salad Making Competition
Our K2 children and their parents expressed their creativity by making a nutritious salad. A healthy
competition took place between the children encouraging them to be a good team player.
Healthy eating habits are more likely to stay with you if you learn them as a child. That's why it's

social skills through interacting with other children, while also learning the value of hard work and

Independence Day
Independence Day was celebrated on 13th August, 2021 in our virtual classes.
The teacher spoke about the importance of Independence Day and showed a presentation and video related
with Independence Day in all the levels. Children enjoyed dancing on patriotic songs in K1 and K2 level.
Children of Nursery level dressed up in colours of national flag and enjoyed making art work and dancing
on the song- 'Nanha Munna Raahi hoo'. Children and Teachers of K1 level were dressed up as Olympics
winners and spoke about the sportsperson they were representing. K1 level children enjoyed making three
tri colours soldiers. Teachers and children of K2 level dressed up as freedom fighter or national
leader.
All the K2 level children very confidently spoke about the national leaders they were representing
followed by making an art work with scenery of three tri colour soldiers saluting the national flag with
few tricolours' flowers. All the children shared one thing that they will do independently.

Household Chores - Serving Water
Involving children in household chores gives them an opportunity to become an active participant in

house. Children begin to see themselves as important contributors of the family. Holding children

Van Mahotsav
Vanmahotsav was celebrated for one week. The culmination was held on 7th July, 2021 in our virtual
classes.
All the children were dressed up in brown or green coloured or floral printed clothes. Teacher
reinforced the significance of celebrating Vanmahotsav. The importance of trees was recapitulated
and
children were encouraged to save trees, plant more tress and take care of the trees and
plants.
A power point presentation was shown to depict the history and significance of Vanmahotsav.
Vanmahotsav or Forest festival was started to spread awareness on conservation of forest and saving
environment.
A rhyme and video were shown to the children related with the topic.
K2 children made posters related with the topic and confidently shared what they have made with
their
peers and teachers.
K1 children used play dough/flour dough, toy animals, paper trees and small plants to create a
forest
and shared what they have made with great enthusiasm.

International Mud Day
International Mud Day was celebrated on 29th June, 2021 in our virtual classes.
All the children were dressed up in brown colour clothes. Teacher explained the significance of the
day
and the importance of playing with the mud. A power point presentation was shown depicting the uses of
mud. Children were explained that Mud Day will help us to promote global friendship with Mother Earth.
A rhyme and video were shown to the children related with the topic.
Children added water in soil to make mud. They patted and kneaded the mud. They also rolled the mud in
their palm to make a spherical shape. They also made different shapes with mud. They enjoyed exploring
the texture of mud. Children of K1 and K2 level made mud art. Nursery level children enjoyed moving
toy
vehicles on mud. They also made fingerprint art with mud. All the children participated with great
enthusiasm.
All the children enjoyed the activities which enhanced their sensorial skills.
Yoga Day, Music Day and Father's Day
Yoga Day, Music Day and Father's Day was celebrated on 21st June, 2021 in our virtual classes.
Father and child dressed up in same colour clothes. A virtual backdrop was used by the teachers
related
with Yoga Day. The teachers explained the importance of yoga and music in our life followed by a video
on Yoga Day. Father and child introduced themselves and gave a performance. Few of them performed
yoga,
few enjoyed doing non- fire cooking or enjoyed singing together. Musical instruments were also played
by
the father and child duo. An art activity was conducted related to the theme for K1 and K2 level. All
the children and their fathers participated with great enthusiasm.
In Nursery level, father and child enjoyed pair- dance on a newspaper followed by a craft activity
related to the event.

Graduation ceremony for the K2 children was celebrated on 06th March, 2021 through
the
virtual classes.
K2 children were dressed up in their graduation cap and sash.
The celebration started with the welcome speech by the Centre Head, Ms.Natasha Baruah followed by a
welcome note by one of the K2 child.
The K2 teachers read a short poem followed by a dance by the K2 children.
The video of their teachers in their previous classes shared their farewell messages wishing them the
very best for their future.
K2 teachers announced the attributes of each child and the parents presented them with the certificate
and the scroll.
A 'Thank You' note was shared by the Academic Coordinator followed by a Time
capsule video with the photos of the children when they were in Pre-Nursery and Nursery.
Parents shared their experience in the school and appreciated the teachers for all their hard work.
The celebration ended with the commemorative photograph of the batch.

Republic Day Celebration
Republic Day was celebrated on 25 th January, 2021 through our home and school
based program.
All the children and teachers wore clothes of tri colour. The day started with the
teacher explaining about Republic day and essence of the day. A presentation was
also shown to the children with details of the day and pictures of the Republic day
parade.
K2 children dressed up as prime minister, Chief minister, education minister,
transport minister, forest and environment minister and spoke about what they will
do if they become the same. K2 children enjoyed making a tricolour badge as an
art activity. Later, they enjoyed dancing on patriotic songs.
K1 children enjoyed making a tricolour boat. Children dressed up as National
Fruit, National Flower, National Animal, Navy official, Soldier and Airforce
official. They enjoyed dancing on patriotic song and singing patriotic song.
Nursery children shared few lines about India followed by making a tricolour fruit
platter with grapes, banana and oranges. Children enjoyed dancing on patriotic songs.
Sankranthi Celebration
Sankranthi was celebrated on 08 th January, 2021 through the home and school
based program.
All the children and teachers wore traditional wear for the event. The event started
with the teacher sharing the essence of Sankranthi as a festival. A skit was
performed by all the teachers to explain how the festival is celebrated in different
states of India followed by a presentation to show all the rituals of the festival in
India.
Children enjoyed making dry fruits laddoo and then decorating the thali to keep
the laddoos. Children served all their family members with the laddoos. One
parent had volunteered to show the Kolu set up in her house in the classes. One
teacher had also decorated Kolu in her house to show to the children. Children
enjoyed dancing on the songs related to the festival.
Bonfire Night Celebration

Bonfire Night was celebrated in the evening on 08 th January, 2021. The theme was
wintery nights. Children were dressed up in their pyjama. Many of the parents had
set up a tent in their bedroom. The tents were decorated with tuni lights. Children
took their favourite stuffed toys inside the tent.
The event started with the teacher sharing about bonfire and showing video of the
bonfire. Teacher played music and children enjoyed dancing with their friends.
Games were organised at all levels. Children enjoyed playing games with their
friends. Children had lots of fun eating popcorn while watching a movie together.
It was followed by a bedtime story. Children snuggled their pillows and stuffed
toys and then listened to the bed time story.
After the story the children enjoyed their dinner time with their friends.

Christmas was celebrated on 24th December, 2020 through the virtual medium during the home and school
based program.
The event started with the teacher sharing the essence of Christmas followed by singing Christmas
carols
by all the children. A teacher dressed up as Santa Claus visited all the classes. Secret Santa gifts
were given by all the parents to the children. Children sang carols with Santa Claus. A video was
shown
to explain the rituals followed during Christmas celebration. Children were explained the importance
of
being kind, sharing with friends and underprivileged children and spreading happiness and joy.
K1 and K2 level children enjoyed a fashion show followed by a dance party. Children decorated
cupcakes/cakes/bread/ doughnut to express their creativity. Later, they relished their masterpieces.

were excited dancing with Santa Claus and singing songs.

Diwali and Children's Day Celebration
Diwali and Children's Day was celebrated on 12th November, 2020 through the home and school based
program online.
The event started with the teacher sharing the essence of Diwali and Children's Day. A teacher dressed
up as Jawahar Lal Nehru and visited all the classes. All the children sang the 'Happy Birthday' song
for
Chacha Nehru. A skit was played which was prepared by the teachers for Children's Day and Diwali where
the teachers played the role of the children and few teachers played the role of teachers. The skit
focussed on the importance of being kind, sharing with the underprivileged children and spreading
happiness and joy. Children took a pledge to give gifts, sweets to underprivileged children and avoid
bursting very noisy crackers. Children also promised to help their parents in household chores.
A video depicting the importance of Diwali was played followed by a dance party for the children. All
the children enjoyed dancing while a Diwali song was played.
A presentation showing how Diwali is celebrated was shown to the children and they were encouraged to
make cards for their family and friends. Children shared about their favourite sweet that they were
looking forward to eat on Diwali.
Fun games were played with the children of all levels followed by diya decoration. Children portrayed
their creativity during the diya decoration activity. The event on a happy note with a family
portrait.
Grandparents day and Ganesh Chaturthi

Grand Parents Day was celebrated on 21st August 2020.
The event started with welcoming the grandparents with virtual tilak. Grandparents had joined from
different states of India making the celebration special for all the children. Grandparents introduced
themselves and spoke about their grandchildren. It was followed by aarti of Lord Ganesha.
The pre-recorded messages of grandparents were played followed by the video of the songs sung by the
children for their grandparents. A skit was prepared by the teachers depicting the importance of being
in touch with the grandparents.
Grandparents and children made Lord Ganesha with the help of clay/play dough or wheat dough.
The event came to a close by the teacher reciting a poem for grandparents.

Freedom is something you have to fight for. We have fought hard to earn it, so let's celebrate our

home and school based program.
The event started with a patriotic song. The spirit and motto of celebrating the
festival was shared with the children by the teachers. The teachers dressed up as
different freedom fighter. The teachers shared details about the freedom fighter
they were dressed up as to the children. Video depicting the significance of the
day was shown to the children.
The children shared a line or a slogan used by the freedom fighter he/she was
representing with their friends confidently. They participated enthusiastically in
making the national flag as an art activity.

work was explained to the children through the video.

Holi Celebration 2020
The best way to add colour in this world is by spreading happiness.
Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally celebrated Holi in a different way this
year. They were explained the importance of colours of life during the circle time.
The children were explained that spreading happiness in this world should be our
priority. Children enjoyed a skit performed by the teachers on the importance of
celebrating eco-friendly Holi with natural colours. The skit was performed in every
classroom. Class photographs were taken near a photobooth. Children enjoyed
making art work for the take away.
Graduation Day 2020
Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally, organized the 'Graduation day' for K2 Level
on Saturday, 28 th February 2020 in the school premises at 09:30 a.m.
This event helped the children to understand their relationship with the teachers and
freeze their memories spent in the preschool. The children felt special about stepping
towards a bright future with new hopes and aspirations. The school gate was decorated
with image of Gee Tee bird with the graduation cap and stars. The outdoor area was
decorated with caps, stars, birds and aeroplanes representing the journey of the children
from pre-school to primary school. Two photo booths were prepared for the parents and
the children.
The event started with the welcome speech by our Centre Head, Ms. Natasha followed
by a welcome note by one K2 child. The event was attended by Ms. Rajesh Rath, Vice
President, Manjeera Diamond Tower, Resident Welfare Association. The children
expressed their excitement through a dance performance. Thereafter, the graduation
ceremony started with parents and Mr. Rath felicitating each child with the graduation
certificates, scrolls and take away. The teachers who have been a part of their pre-school
journey in Pre-Nursery, Nursery and K1 level shared their memories with the parents.
Our Admin Head, Ms. Aparna also shared her experience with the batch followed by
messages from all the support staff. The children sang a 'Thank you' song followed by a
dance performance on the 'Dynamite Song'. They expressed their happiness after
graduating. The event was concluded with a thank you note by Ms. Sameet and a video
presentation which took the gathering down the memory lane of the times spent by the
K2 children at Birla Open Minds Preschool. It was an overwhelming experience for the
parents. They also shared that their children had a fruitful time all these years at Birla
Open Minds Preschool.Parents shared their Birla Open Minds Preschool experiences and
most of them were very emotional thinking about the time their child joined the school
in Pre-Nursery level. Each and every person present in the event enjoyed and appreciated
the event.
Basanth Panchami 2020
Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally celebrated Basanth Panchami at school on 29th January
2020.
The outdoor area was decorated with yellow and white flowers, streamers and buntings. All the children
came dressed in yellow and white coloured clothes. An ideol of Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of
wisdom
was placed in the outdoor. The teachers did the arti and explained the children about the importance
of
art and culture in our life along with the importance of making sincere efforts to learn new things.
The
children were also explained about the spring time and the importance of celebrating Basanth Panchami
in
India.
They thoroughly enjoyed the event.
Republic Day 2020
'Republic Day' was celebrated Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 24th January, 2020. The
school
premise was decorated with tri -coloured buntings, an India gate photo booth and a backdrop with the
event related cutouts. Children of all levels came dressed in traditional attire. This year,the theme
for the event was unsung heroes. One of the teachers dressed up as Kasturba Gandhi and narrated the
whole program. She expressed few beautiful incidents related to Kasturba Gandhi about her positive
outlook towards every situation. Teachers also presented a skit related to the role of children in
today's world. The children who came dressed as freedom fighters shared few sentences about them.
Children of each level danced on patriotic songs and sang few patriotic songs. Event related videos
were
shown to the children during the ICT time. Bisibilli Bhaat and ladoo were served to the children
during
the snack time.Children made beautiful tri-colour art and craft work. They went home happily singing
the
national anthem.
Bonfire Night 2020
Bonfire night was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on
Friday, 10 th January 2020 in the evening hours from 04:00 p.m. – 06: 55 p.m.
Children were excited to come to school in their pajamas with their favourite
pillow and blanket. The teachers received them with warm welcome. They were
mesmerized to see the decoration. The school outdoors was decorated with the
theme Sankranti.
The outdoor was decorated with cut-outs of kites and a
separate place for bonfire. Music related to theme was played during the event.
The circle time, passing the pillow game, musical chair, snuggled up story time,
movie with popcorn, dancing outdoors near the bonfire were planned and
implemented in a joyful way. The event came to an end with a delicious supper
that included veg-manchurian, veg-noodles and gulab jamun. The teachers bid
bye to all the children, handing over their belongings. The children carried
memorable moments to share with their family and enjoy their Sankranti break
together.
Sankranti Celebration 2020
Birla Open Minds Preschool,Gopanpally celebrated Sankranti at school on 10th January 2020.
The outdoor area was decorated with kites to give a traditional look to school. Bomma kullu was
decorated to give children a sneek peek of the cultural heritage of Telengana. A rangoli was made near
the gate. Children were brought down to the outdoor area level wise to watch the Sankranti celebration
program.
The teachers enacted a skit depicting the essence of Sankranti festival for all levels.
Children also performed a dance on songs related with Lohri and Sankranti songs level wise. Later,
staff
members and children danced on the songs related with the event to add to the festive spirit. Children
made kites as part of the take away art activity. Children enjoyed the snack which included Pulihora
and
ladoo. The children went back home with excitement for the Bonfire night in the evening.
Christmas Celebration 2019
"Jingle Bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.
Oh! What fun, it is to run on a one horse open sleigh…."
The event had filled the school with a festive atmosphere. A day prior the children wrapped the gifts
with newspaper which helped them to learn how to wrap a gift. Children understood the importance of
saving trees by reusing paper and making them responsible for their environment. Christmas tree was
decorated and displayed along with the nativity scene at the entrance.
Teachers decorated the school premises with handmade props that were related to the
festival. Children came to the school, dressed in red, green and white colour dresses. Few children
came
dressed as a Santa. Children were able to understand the significance of the festival during the
circle
time while discussing with teachers. Few children from K1 level enacted the famous 'Ginger bread man'
story. K2 children also presented a Christmas carol and danced on a 'New Year Party' song. K1 children
enjoyed dancing on the Christmas songs. Nursery and Pre-Nursery children enjoyed singing Christmas
carols. Santa Claus (a teacher dressed as Santa) distributed gifts to all the children. Age
appropriate
and theme related art activities were conducted in all the levels. All the children carried their
take-away and gifts home. Event related videos were shown during the ICT time. All the children had
fun
throughout the event. Fruit cake and pav bhaji were served during the snack time.

Annual Sports Meet (2019-20)

Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally celebrated their 5 th
Annual sports day (2019-20) at Birla Open Minds International School, Kollur on
Saturday, 1 st December 2019 in the morning hours.
The theme for this year being, 'Greenathon' the decoration on the
ground
was done keeping in accord with it. The event started with the Torch Bearing' ceremony followed by
planting saplings by Ms. Natasha and PTA members. Ms. Natasha shared her welcome speech followed by a
speech by Ms. Pratima Sinha, CEO, DSR Educational Society. A welcome note was shared by a child from
the
K2 level. It was followed by the 'Oath Taking' ceremony. The Pre-Nursery, Nursery, K1 and K2 levels
performed drills, level wise to add colour and happiness to the event. Our director, Ms. Sharmila
Reddy
gave token of appreciation to the support staff and certificates to the teachers during the
felicitation
ceremony. All the track events were planned according to the theme. The children exhibited their
athletic skills along with reinforcing the theme of taking care of the plants and work towards a
greener
living. The races included the concept of -sow and grow, watering the plants, growth of a seed into a
tree, taking care of nest and animals living in the tree. The teachers prepared the props by using
recyclable materials and reused the resources available to encourage the children to be eco-friendly.
All the K2 children wove the entire event beautifully through a dance drama in between all the races
and
drills. Our support staff performed the famous Bathukama dance.The event was enjoyed by the children
and
the parents as the track events and drills were specially designed keeping in mind the child's age and
capabilities. All the children were appreciated for their efforts by presenting them with
participation
certificates as the slogan for the event was, 'We all are winners'. 'Thank You' notes were shared by
Ms.
Sameet and a K2 child. All the school children participated in the grand finale. The children of all
levels danced on Christmas songs with Santa Claus giving gifts and balloons. Refreshments were served
to
the parents before the event had started. The event was enjoyed and appreciated by all the parents and
guests.
Children's Day Celebration 2019

Children's day was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 14th November, 2019.The
theme for the day was candy land. The outdoor area was set up with decoration related to the theme.
Big
paper lollipops, ice-creams and cupcakes enhanced the outdoor area decoration. The gate was decorated
with cut outs of ginger bread man, lollipops and ice-cream cones. Children came dressed in colourful
attire. A teacher dressed herself in the signature attire of Chacha Nehru, welcomed the children.
Children waved at Chacha Nehru, wished him with birthday wishes. The spirit and motto of celebrating
the
Chacha Nehru's birthday as children's day was imparted to the children of all levels during the circle
time. The teachers performed a skit about Candy land which was loved by all the children. The skit
also
imparted a small message of eating limited amount of sweets and chocolates. They also performed two
dances for the children. All the children were presented with the craft work related to event as a
takeaway. All the children had great fun.
Diwali Celebration 2019
Diwali was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 25th October 2019. Yellow area was
decorated with paper diyas hanging from the ceiling. A puppet theatre was decorated and kept in the
outdoor area during arrival. The essence of the festival was explained to the children during circle
time. A skit was performed by the teachers in the classes to explain the importance of celebrating an
eco-friendly Diwali. Children danced with the teachers in their respective classes. A Diwali party was
organised in the class by making the children have snacks together. Children of all levels made paper
lantern as a craft work. Video depicting the significance of the day were shown to the children during
the ICT time. The children carried their craftwork home along with the learning of celebrating an
eco-friendly message.
Bathukamma and Dusshera Celebration 2019
Bathukamma was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 27th September, 2019. Children
came dressed to the school, in their traditional attire. A Bathukamma with flowers was prepared and
kept
near the gate. The outdoors were decorated with cut-outs of Bathukamma, goddess Durga and dandiya .
The
gate was decorated with a 'Toran' made of mango leaves and marigold flowers. The yellow area of the
school was decorated with colourful lamps hanging from the ceiling. Children were explained the
significance of the festival and about the different ways in which the festival is celebrated in
different states of India through a skit performed by the teachers. Children of all levels gave dance
performances .Support staff performed the traditional dance and sang the Bathukamma song which was
enjoyed by all the children. The children made craft work associated with Bathukamma and carried it as
a
takeaway.
Ganesh Chaturthi 2019
Ganpati Bappa Moriya!

Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 30 th August, 2019.
Children came dressed to the school, in their traditional attire. The gate was
decorated with leaf toran. A mandap was set up with an eco-friendly Ganesha
idol. During the circle time, the teachers explained the significance of the
event and the importance of being responsible for the environment by using
an eco friendly Ganesha. Children of all the levels performed the aarti infront
of the Ganesha idol along with their class teachers and support staff.
Ganesha's favourite food, modak (Laddu) was offered as prasad after the
aarti. The cultural event started with a skit performed by the teachers
explaining that Lord Ganesha believed his parents were his world. Children
of all the levels gave a dance performance to express their love for Lord
Ganesha. The children were provided with musical instruments, during the
procession of Ganesha immersion. After the immersion, children danced to
the music outdoors. They carried their craft work home as a takeaway.
Janmashtami Celebration

Janmashtami was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool; Gopanpally on 23rd August, 2019.Outdoors
was
decorated creatively according to the event. The children of all levels came dressed as Radha/Krishna.
The spirit of celebrating the festival was shared with the children during the circle time. Jhoola
with
Lord Krishna was placed in the K2 class. Children of all the levels took turns to see Lord Krishna.
They
chanted haathi ghoda palki, jai kanhaiya laal ki with great enthusiasm. All of them cradled Lord
Krishna. Teachers performed a skit depicting the birth of Krishna which was followed by a dance
performance by all the classes. A puppet show was organized to depict the values of sharing and caring
of Lord Krishna through the story of 'Govardhan Parvath'. All the children assembled for the 'Handi
Breaking' ceremony. They were excited and elated dancing to the music along with the teachers after
breaking the handi. The children took their art activities as a take away.
Pre-Independence Day and Pre-Raksha Bandhan Celebration

We had the Pre-Independence Day and Pre-Raksha Bandhan celebration at Birla Open Minds Preschool,
Gopanpally on 14th August, 2019.
The event was celebrated indoors and the school was decorated with beautiful and creative ideas. Music
related to the event was played during the arrival time which lifted the spirits of each and everyone
present in the school with patriotism. The children came dressed to the school in their traditional
attire. They participated enthusiastically in making tri- colour rakhi and tri- colour badge during
the
'Art and Craft time'.
Children learnt about the essence of Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan through a skit performed by
teachers. Children of all levels gave dance performances on patriotic songs and songs related with
Raksha Bandhan.
Videos depicting the significance of both the days were shown to the children during the ICT time. The
children carried their craft work home and had a wonderful day at school.
Parents Day

Parent's day was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Pre-school, Gopanpally on Saturday,20th July 2019.The
theme for this year was 'Colours of Life'.
The school was setup for the event with different colour corners in the yellow area of the school. The
outdoor was decorated with colourful dupattas and parachute. The parents were given a warm welcome
with
the auspicious tilak ceremony. They were guided for photo session of the family in the colour corners.
In the class, everyone had a gala time with an ice breaker game, circle time, good morning song,
followed by energiser, individual introduction of the parents.
Parents were divided in different groups based on the colour they wore and played
different games like extending whispers, sorting balls of same colour with their feet, group dance
with
signature steps of different film stars, singing and creating music, treasure hunt of objects of same
colour. Children presented a Thank You card to their parents which were made by them a day prior.
Everyone enjoyed the snack which was served at school. A 'Tulsi plant' was given to each family as we
believe, "Giving a live plant communicates that we care about their health and happiness."
Van Mahotsav Day
A week long Van Mahotsav celebration took place at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally from 8th
July, 2019 -12th July, 2019.
The spirit of creating awareness about the benefits and protection of trees, the harm caused by
cutting
down of trees was rightly implanted in the minds of the children. On day 1, the concept of Vanmahotsav
was explained to the children during general assembly and circle time. Children recited the rhyme-'Ek
chhota beej' and 'I am a little seed'. On day 2, the children of each level sowed seeds in the garden
and learnt about the importance of planting more trees. On day 3, all the children learnt about uses
of
trees and took pledge of saving trees. On day 4, the teachers performed a skit on the 'Chipko
movement'
and the female activist Amrita Devi Bishnoi to spread the awareness about saving the trees and forest.
On the culmination day, we conducted an interschool competition was conducted were the
teacher and children created models and posters with recycle material. We were honoured to have Mr.
Anand Swaroop Manchiraju, a world renowned artist as the judge for the occasion .The top three
projects
were presented a trophy and certificate of participation. This year we also decided to decorate the
school in an eco-friendly way to encourage children not to waste paper.
Our children learnt the mantra of saving trees and saving forest.
International Yoga Day and World Music Day

International Yoga day and World Music day was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally
on
21st June, 2019. The morning atmosphere brought positive vibes into the school to stay fit and healthy
by doing Yoga and listening to music. The day started by introducing the significance of International
Yoga day followed by the benefits of doing Yoga to the children in the classroom for Pre-Nursery and
Nursery children. They were also given the opportunity to explore different musical instruments and
the
sound they produce. We invited Ms. Monika Nagpal, a certified yoga instructor and a parent of a K1
level
child to teach yoga to K1 and K2 level.
K1 and K2 level children enjoyed doing yoga outdoors. K1 children performed Garden Yoga
and K2 children performed Music Yoga. Children were informed about the theme for this year's
International Yoga day as 'Climate Action'. The teachers performed a street play to focus on the
theme,
'Climate action'. The children were encouraged to avoid land pollution, water pollution and air
pollution through the street play. K1 and K2 children planted money plants in pots as a significance
of
this year's theme. They pledged to save the planet by planting more trees and breathe fresh air for a
healthy life.
All the children made a table standee as a take away. Children had fun and enjoyed the day thoroughly.
The parents appreciated the initiative taken by the school to celebrate the International Yoga day and
World Music day.
Summer camp culmination and grand finale
A fulfilled three weeks, 'Pirates Bay' summer camp came to
an end with a grand culmination on Friday, 19 th April 2019 at
the Phoenix Arena ground in the Hi-tech city. The special
attraction of this year's culmination was a get together of all
the six DSR Birla Open Minds Preschool, sharing the
common platform to showcase their talent. The environment
was filled with giggles, laughter and excitement with a
gathering of over 300 people.
The stage was set up with the props related to the theme.
Children came with their parents to Phoenix Arena. The
children presented skits, dances, yoga, zumba and poem
recitation. Children of Birla Open Minds Preschool,
Gopanpally gave a mesmerizing zumba performance. Parents
appreciated and enjoyed seeing their children performing
confidently on such a big platform.
The parents appreciated the DSR Educational Society for
working unanimously and contributing to the education
system for the betterment of the young children.
The Grand Finale was conducted the following day at the
school on Monday, 22 nd March 2019. Children were
appreciated for their efforts during the summer camp by
awarding them with certificates. Children shared their plans
for the summer break with their friends. All the art activities
were handed over to the children as takeaway. They bid
farewell to their friends with the plans of meeting them in
the next academic session.
Holi Celebration

Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally celebrated Holi on
Wednesday, 20th March 2019 with great pomp and show to
make the children understand about our cultural heritage. The
children came dressed to the school in their traditional attire.
They received a warm welcome from their teachers in the
morning. A festive atmosphere was created by the decoration of
the outdoor area with different artifacts. A skit was performed
by the teachers to share the significance of the festival followed
by a dance performance by all the teachers. Children were
encouraged to play Holi with natural colours and flowers. All the
children had fun by sprinkling paper confetti on each other.
They also danced to the various tunes of Holi songs. Videos
related to the festival were shown to the children during the ICT
time. Greeting cards made by the children were sent home as a
take-away art activity. While going home, most of the children
excitedly shared about their preparation for the Holi celebration
next day at home.

Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally organised the 'Graduation day'
for K2 Level on Saturday, 2 nd March 2019. Graduation day for K2-A and
K2 B level were organised at 09:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m respectively.
This event helped the children to understand their relationship with the
teachers and freeze their memories spent in the preschool. The children
felt special about stepping towards a bright future with new hopes and
aspirations. It was an overwhelming experience for the parents. They also
shared that their children had a fruitful time all these years at Birla Open
Minds Preschool.
The event started with the school prayer by the K2 children, followed by
a welcome speech by our Centre Head, Ms.Natasha and a K2 child.Our
CEO, Ms. Pratima Sinha addressed the gathering and wished all the
children a bright future. The children also performed a musical skit and
explained the importance of their flight to the next level. Thereafter, the
graduation ceremony started with each parent felicitating each child with
the graduation certificate, scrolls and trophey. The class teachers shared
their memories that they had with the children. At the end of the
program, the children danced on the 'Dynamite Song' and expressed their
happiness after graduating. The event was concluded with a video
presentation which took the gathering down the memory lane of the
times spent by the K2 children at Birla Open Minds Preschool. Each and
every person present in the event enjoyed and appreciated the event.
Grand Parents Day

Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally celebrated the grandparent's
day at the school campus on 25 th January, 2019. The main objective of the
celebration was to help the children understand about the valuable
relationship they share with their grandparents and to make the
grandparents feel special by creating ever lasting fond memories for the
future.
The theme for this year was 'Republic Day'. Grandparents were
welcomed by the teachers with the auspicious 'Tilak ceremony' and
guided to the respective classes.
The classes were filled with the laughter's
of the children and grandparents as they enjoyed the circle time, story
time, quiz, energizers, art and a game.The children came outdoors with
the grandparents for a photo session in the specially designed
photobooth for the occasion. Greeting cards was given by all the children
to the grandparents as a token of love. All the grandparents enjoyed the
celebration with their grandchildren and thanked the organisation for
arranging such an emotional and fun-filled day for them.
Sankranthi Celebration
Makar Sankranti was celebrated on Friday, 11th January 2019.The outdoor area was decorated with kites
and rangoli to build up the festive atmosphere in the school. 'Bommalu Kulluvu' was decorated inside a
hut to help the children experience the cultural heritage of Telangana. The teachers enacted a skit
depicting the essence of Sankranti festival. Children also performed dance on songs related with Lohri
and Sankranti. Children made kites and paper flower bouquet as a part of the take away art activity.
They also enjoyed the snack which included Pao bhaji and Gulab jamun. The day ended well as the
children
went back home with excitement for the Sankranti Holidays.
Christmas Celebration
The Christmas carols had filled the school with the festive atmosphere during the arrival time the
morning on Friday, 21st December 2018. Children came to the school, dressed in red, green and white
colour dresses. Few children came dressed as Santa. All the children assembled outdoors for the
Christmas celebrations after the circle time. The celebration began with the 'Nativity Skit'
performance
by the K2 level children.K1 and K2 level children sang the Christmas carols .The nursery and
pre-nursery
children enjoyed dancing on Christmas carols. All the children were happy and excited to see the Santa
Claus (teacher) with gifts for them.
Later, they enjoyed dancing with the Santa Claus on the Christmas songs. The
significance
of the celebration was also shared with the children during the ICT time through related videos.
Children relished the plum cake, poori and sabzi during the snack time. The children carried their
hand-made craft activities and gifts home humming the Christmas carols out of happiness. The event was
enjoyed by everyone.
Annual Sports Day - 2018
Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally celebrated the 4th Annual sports day (2018-19) at Birla Open
Minds International School, Kollur on Saturday, 1st December 2018.
The theme for this year being, 'Relive the Morals of the Tales' the decoration on
the
ground was done keeping in accord with it. The event started with the Torch Bearing' ceremony followed
by planting a sapling and flag hoisting by Ms. Natasha and PTA members. Ms. Natasha shared her welcome
speech followed by a welcome speech shared by a child from the K2 level. It was followed by the 'Oath
Taking' ceremony. The Pre-Nursery, Nursery, K1 and K2 levels performed drills, level wise to add
colour
and happiness to the event. All the track events were planned according to the theme.
Many folktales came to life during the track events like 'Lion and the mouse', 'Cap
seller and the monkeys', 'Thirsty Crow', 'Greedy Dog', 'Fox and the grapes', 'Hare and tortoise',
'Anteater' and 'Chimpanzee and Orangutan'.The event was enjoyed by the children and the parents as the
track events and drills. All the children were appreciated for their efforts by presenting them with
participation certificates. 'Thank You' notes were shared by Ms. Sameet and a K2 child. The K2
children
sang a song for their parents as a finale. The event was enjoyed and appreciated by all the parents.
Diwali Celebration
Diwali was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 6
th November 2018. The school was decorated with paper lanterns, kalash
and chandelier to build up the festive mood. The children were very happy
when their teachers greeted them in the morning during the arrival
time.The essence of the festival was explained to the children during circle
time. The importance of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali was also
explained to the children. A Diwali mela was organised with different
games to entertain the children like stack the glasses, beading, trail path,
aim the glasses and backward bowling. It was followed by a dancing
session with their friends to make the day special.
Children of all levels enjoyed decorating their diyas with paints and
kundan. Videos depicting the significance of the day were shown to the
children during the ICT time. Poori chhole and Balushahi were served
during the snack time to celebrate the occasion. Our children wished
‘Happy Diwali’ to everyone at school and carried their craftwork home
with an eco-friendly message.
Bathukamma and Dussehra Celebration
Bathukamma and Dussehra festival were celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on Monday,
8th October 2018. All the children came joyfully to school in their traditional attire.
The event started with a skit which was presented by the teachers to narrate the essence of Dussehra,
the victory of good over evil. They also narrated the significance of the regional festival,
Bathukamma
to the children.
Our support staff danced and sang some traditional songs around the 'Bathukamma', made of colourful
flowers. The children were excited and happy to see their class didis perform the dance on the
stage.
Children of all levels presented beautiful dance performances related to the festival. Videos,
depicting the significance of the festival were shown to the children during the ICT time.
All the children wished their friends and teachers, 'Happy Holidays' before leaving for the
Dusshera
break. They happily went back home with the craft work they had prepared during the day.
Junior Horlicks Workshop
A workshop on ‘Junior Quotient’ and ‘Nutrition Quotient’ was conducted by Junior Horlicks at Birla
Open
Minds Pre-School, Gopanpally on Saturday, 29th September 2018. It was a creative adaptation of
research
done by Howard University and was aimed to help parents to understand the child’s unique frame of mind
and helping them accomplish their full development potential. The workshop was conducted by Horlicks
Trainer, Ms. Ritu Vaish.
The workshop involved various interactive activities giving step by step in-depth understanding of
eight intelligences involved in a child’s development. The eight intelligences include:
1. Musical-rhythmic
2. Visual-spatial
3. Verbal-linguistic
4. Logical-mathematical
5. Bodily-kinesthetic
6. Interpersonal
7. Intrapersonal
8. Naturalistic
The tips and techniques on building the child’s nutritional quotient to support their early growth
were shared with the parents during the workshop.
The speaker shared that the critical period of learning for every child is between 2 to 6 years and
90% of the brain development takes place during this age. In the 21st century,we need a generation
of
creative and problem-solving thinkers. These are going to be the two crucial skills required in each
child and for this we need to encourage every child to foster these skills. However, we need to be
cautious on the extra usage of gadgets. It was shared by the speaker that the use of gadgets and
exposure of child towards them has primarily been responsible to kill a child’s creativity and
problem-solving skills.
The speaker requested the parents to share the day with their child on regular basis to live and
capture the ‘AHA’ moments because it leads to brain networking. Parents were encouraged to interact
with the knowledgeable speaker on various topics including their queries and doubts on their child
specific behavior and best practices to deal with such situations. Parents could easily relate the
workshop content and activities with their day to day interaction with their child. It was truly a
knowledge enriching session for the parents who shared their positive feedback about the same at the
end of the workshop.
While the parents were engaged in the workshop, the children had a fun-filled day
with the teachers in an in-house workshop on the country ‘Australia’. Later, they took
the craft work as a take away. Parents were offered refreshments.
Mother of Pre-nursery Ayansh, Ms.Megha shared her feedback regarding the
workshop with us. She writes, “Thanks for inviting us for the workshop. It was a very
useful, yet a fun session for us. Ritu Mam was very knowledgeable in the subject and
her experience came through during the session. While ‘Multiple Intelligence’ is
something we had already heard about, she brought them to life through simple use
cases and practical tips that will help stimulate a child's learning. It was also nice to
interact with other parents.
Ganesh Chaturthi Celebration
Ganpati Bappa Moriya!
Mangal Moorti Moriya!
Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated at Birla Open Minds-Preschool,
Gopanpally on Wednesday, 12 th September 2018.
A small mandap was set up in the lobby area with a Ganesha idol molded by
the teachers at school.
The school was decorated with buntings to build up a festive environment.
The children came happily to school in their traditional attire. They imbibed
the importance of the day through a skit performed by the teachers. Children
of all levels, teachers and didis offered ‘Aarti’ and chanted ‘Ganesh
Vandana’ to the eco-friendly Ganesha idol .Before the idol immersion, the
K2 level children took part in the procession with the Ganesha by playing the
musical instruments. The children carried their craft work home as a
takeaway during the dismissal.
The day ended happily as the children went home praising Lord Ganesha’s
love for parents, food and good moral values by saying, “Ganpatti Bappa
Moriya!”
Janamashtami Celebration
Janmashtami was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on Friday, 31st August
2018.The
children came dressed to the school as little Krishnas and Radhas. The teachers enacted the birth of
Lord Krishna to connect children to the significance of the festival. They also explained Lord
Krishna's love towards his friend Sudama through a skit.
The children of all levels presented their class-wise dance performance to lift up the spirit of
each
and everyone at school for the traditional 'Mutki-breaking' ceremony. Videos depicting the
significance of the day were shown to the children during the ICT time. The children carried their
craft work home as a takeaway. During the dismissal time, the school was filled with laughter and
giggles of children as they discussed about the fun-filled day spent at school.
'Raksha Bandhan Celebration'

Raksha Bandhan was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on Thursday, 23rd August
2018.
The teachers shared the spirit and motto of celebrating the festival with the children during the
circle time.
The children came dressed to the school, in their traditional attire. They participated
enthusiastically in the 'Rakhi Making' activity.
The children of all levels learned more about the festival through a musical skit performed by K2-B.
K2-A, K1 and pre-nursery presented a dance performance. Nursery children sang a song depicting the
beautiful relationship shared between brother and sister. Event related music was played during the
arrival time. Videos depicting the significance of the day were shown to the children during the ICT
time. The children carried their craft work home as a takeaway.
'Independence Day Celebration'
Mahatma Gandhi said, "If we wish to create lasting peace, we must begin with children."
In-house Independence Day was celebrated a day prior on Tuesday, 14th August 2018.
The school was decorated with tricolour buntings and chandlers. The children of all the levels came
dressed in saffron, white and green colour dresses. The teachers greeted the children in the morning
with "Jai Hind."
The pre-independence day happiness filled the hearts of everyone at school when all K2 and K1
children started the function by singing the songs, 'Saare Jahan Se Achcha', 'Ae watan mere Watan'
and
'We shall overcome one day' and 'Vande Mataram'. The pre- nursery and nursery children danced to the
patriotic songs, 'Nanna Munna Raahi Hoon' and 'Phir bhi dil hai Hindustani' respectively.
The children were excited and elated to perform as well as watch their friends' performances.
Children enjoyed doing art activities in their classes. During the ICT time,
few videos recapitulating the significance of the day were shown to the children.
'Parents Day'
Parent's day was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on Saturday, 21st July 2018.
It
was celebrated with the theme named as 'Unity in Diversity'.
The theme focused on different states of India and helped the parents to remember their states with
hearts full of gratitude. We focused on the importance of sharing with their child the interesting
facts about their own state.
The school was setup for the event with the teachers' creative work.
GT Gopanpally team hosted the event by welcoming the parents with the auspicious 'Tilak' ceremony.
The
children gave a 'Thank You' card to their parents. The gala time in the classes started with the
circle time, good morning song, followed by energiser, individual introduction of the parents and
their state. Additionally, there were games like Pictionary, dancing (signature dance steps) to the
medley of folk songs from different states and a sculpturing activity. A 'Tulsi plant' was given to
every family as we believe, "Giving a plant communicates that we care about their health and
happiness."
'Van Mahotsav Day'
Van Mahotsav was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on Friday, 13th July 2018.
Everyone came dressed in green colour marking the significance of the day.
The spirit of creating awareness about the benefits and protection of trees, the harm
caused by cutting down of trees was rightly implanted in the minds of the children.
K2 children took an active initiative in enacting two skits. Few children of K2-A
performed a skit on the 'Chipko Movement' and on the female activist Amrita
Devi Bishnoi.
K2-B performed a skit on the harmful effects of pollution and participated in creating
awareness about saving trees. K2 –A and K2 –B children also performed two songs to
spread the awareness about saving the environment.
The event was celebrated in the yellow area with K1, K2, Nursery and PN level children together.
The
pre-nursery and nursery children enjoyed the performances as the K2 children came dressed as trees
and
flowers.
K1 children brought posters made by them (with the help of their parents) and participated rally in
the outdoors. The children, along with the teachers went in the rally shouting out few slogans like,
"Go Green", "Lend a Hand to Save Trees", "Jal hai to kal hai" etc.
PN and Nursery children made leaf collage posters as a group work in the respective classes. The
children were given 'Seed Packet' as a take away and were encouraged to plant the seeds at home.
'International Mud Day Celebration'
Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally celebrated International Mud Day on Friday, 29th June 2018.
The children were taught about the significance of the day and the importance of playing with mud.
They mixed, sculpted, plastered and squished the mud to embrace the natural sensory resource
available
in the environment.
K1 and K2 level children made a snail in the classroom. Pre-nursery and Nursery children were
encouraged to make a smiley ball.
All the children enjoyed making their masterpieces.
Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on Thursday, 14th June 2018.
The spirit of celebrating Eid, the joy of giving and sharing the happiness was shared with the
children. The school was decorated beautifully for the occasion with lanterns. The arrival time was
filled with joy and happiness as the teachers gave a warm welcome to the children. They came dressed
in their traditional attire for the event.
The event was celebrated outdoors with K1 and K2 level children.
A skit depicting the significance of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr was performed by the K2 children. The
children enjoyed the performance.
A craft activity related to the celebration was conducted in classes of all the levels. The
children
carried their craft work home as a takeaway during the dismissal. A special Ramadan dish 'Sheer
Khurma' was served during the snack time to mark the occasion. All the children wished "Eid Mubarak"
to each other before going back home.
Parent Orientation Programme
Parent Orientation Programme was conducted on Saturday, 9th June 2018 at Birla Open Minds
Preschool,
Gopanpally. The Orientation programme was divided into three sessions of 1.5 hours each. First
session
was for the parents of K2-A and Nursery-A level children, from 09:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The second
session was for parents of K1 and pre-nursery level children from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Third
session was conducted for the parents of K2 B and Nursery B levels from 12:45 p.m. to 02:00 p.m. The
parents were welcomed by the teachers and were guided to the 'Presentation Room'. The orientation
programme started with a presentation given by Ms. Natasha Baruah, Centre Head, Gopanpally sharing
the
uniqueness and strengths of Birla Open Minds Preschool. Later, she presented the slides related to
the
school operations. Ms. Sameet, Academic Coordinator, Gopanpally shared the curriculum details with
the
parents. The teachers of all the levels were introduced to the parents. Parents were requested to
volunteer for the 'Parent Teacher Association'. PTA members of all levels were announced after the
lucky draw. After the presentation, parents were escorted to the classes where the teachers
conducted
a session for the parents by showing a day at GT.
Two classrooms were set up for the parents of each level. Teachers started the session with the
circle time followed by energiser, theme time, numeracy time, art time, Show and Tell, ICT and
Exploration. Teachers also explained the importance of snack time to the parents. All the parents
enjoyed the snacks after the session with the teachers.
Workshop on Blooms Taxonomy and Emotional Intelligence
Workshop on Blooms Taxonomy and Emotional Intelligence by Ms. Sonal Ravi Andrews, Director and
Founder and Ms. Rajalakshmi Krishnan, Academic Director, Integrated Preschool Teachers Training
Academy (IPTTA) – 28th May, 2018
"What any person in the world can learn, almost all persons can learn if provided with appropriate
prior and current conditions of learning." - Benjamin Bloom
Ms. Rajalakshmi Krishnan, Academic Director, Integrated Preschool Teachers Training Academy (IPTTA)
conducted workshop on Blooms Taxonomy for the teachers at Open Minds on 28th May, 2018 in the first
half of the day. Ms. Pratima Sinha, CEO, - DSR Group, centre heads, academic coordinators and
teachers
from all the six GT centers' in Hyderabad attended the workshop.
Ms. Krishnan divided the teachers in 10 groups and encouraged all the groups to participate in
different activities to explain all the six levels of Blooms Taxonomy. The six levels are Remember,
Understand, Apply, Analyze, Evaluate and Create. She also encouraged the teachers to come up with
the
activities that can be conducted in the classroom to enhance the different levels of Blooms
Taxonomy.
The session was interactive and interesting.
Ms. Sonal Ravi Andrews, Director and founder, IPTTA, conducted the workshop on Emotional
Intelligence
after the lunch break. Ms. Andrews started the session by discussing the five developmental domains
of
the child, summed up by the acronym, "SPICE" – Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative and
Emotional.
She spoke about how emotional intelligence helps the teacher to build a bond with each of her
students. She discussed five aspects of emotional intelligence, i.e. social skills, self-awareness,
empathy, self-regulation and internal motivation. She also discussed how important it is for the
teacher to make each child feel special in the classroom.
The teachers enjoyed the interactive session and are geared up to use the learnings from the
workshop
in the new academic session.
'Summer Camp Culmination Day'
"Around here, we don't look backwards for very long…We keep moving forward, opening up new doors
and
doing new things because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."
The children enjoyed the summer camp –Around the world and presented a wonderful culmination in
front
of their parents and teachers on Friday, 20th April 2018.The event started with a warm welcome
through
a Mummy dance by the level-II children. Their attire and performance mesmerized the parents. The
children of level-I followed by the level-II recapitulated the importance of a healthy life by
performing yoga poses like butterfly pose and tree pose, child pose and chair pose respectively. The
famous energetic 'Dragon Dance 'was performed by the level –I children with dragon masks. The
children
exhibited confidence by overcoming stage fear and speaking few lines about the different countries
they learnt during the summer camp. The visited the stalls set up with the country specific
artifacts
made by the children throughout the summer camp. Ms. Baruah, Centre head addressed the parents by
sharing the importance of involvement of children with the natural environment as a part of early
childhood education. She also thanked the parents for their support and cooperation. The children
were
appreciated for their active participation during the summer camp by awarding them with
participation
certificates. Photo booths and decorations according the theme created a pleasant ambience in the
school. The parents appreciated the teachers and the organisation for their efforts. They also
shared
that the sense of accomplishment and confidence they saw in their child when they returned from
school
everyday helped them to strengthen their faith on Birla Open Minds Preschool.
'Class Party'
Children are usually overjoyed about the summer vacation, but some might become emotional too with
the
thought of missing their teachers and friends at school. Therefore, to make
the last day of the school a memorable one for everyone, a class party was organised at school on 29th
of March, 2018. The children came in coloured dresses to school. The teachers conducted a
puppet show for the children. They also emphasized on the importance of spending time with their
grandparents, cousins, going on vacation during summer and to stay in a safe circle. All the children
danced happily to the party songs. They were very excited as they had brought snacks from home to
share
with their friends. During the music and movement, children had a fun time with their
teachers while dancing to the different tunes in the classroom. K2 children handed over their 'Thank
you
card' to all didis and bhaiyyas. All the children shared their fun-filled moments and
memorable experiences with their class teachers and ended the day on a beautiful note.
'Graduation Day' (2017-2018)
Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally organised the 'Graduation day' for K2 Level on 24th March,
2018
at school.
This event helped the children to understand their relationship with their teachers and cherish their
memories spent in the preschool. The children felt special about stepping towards a bright future with
new hopes and aspirations. It was an overwhelming experience for the parents. They also cheerfully
shared how their children had a fruitful time all these years at Birla Open Minds Preschool.
The event started with the school prayer by the K2 children, followed by a welcome speech by Ms.
Natasha. The children gave a warm welcome to the parents through a welcome song .The children also
performed the skit-"Bumble Bee Learns to Fly" and explained the importance of their flight to the next
level. Later, they portrayed different skills that they learned at Birla Open Minds Preschool to wind
up
the skit. Thereafter, the graduation ceremony started with Ms. Natasha felicitating each child with
the
graduation certificate. The class teachers shared their memories with the children. The children
danced
on the 'Dynamite Song' and expressed their happiness after graduating. The event was concluded by a
'Thank You' note by Ms. Lavanya and a video presentation, which took the gathering down the memory
lane
of the times spent by the K2 children at Birla Open Minds Preschool. Parents shared their Birla Open
Minds Preschool experiences, wrote the feedbacks on their child's progress on the graffiti wall. Each
and every person present in the event enjoyed and appreciated the event.
Glimpse of Holi In-House Celebration
Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally celebrated Holi with great pomp and show. The
children came dressed to the school in their traditional attire. They received a
warm welcome from their teachers in the morning. The teachers applied a
'Tilak' on the forehead of each child with organic colour. A festive atmosphere
was created by the decoration of the outdoor area with different artifacts. The
teachers shared the significance of the festival with the children. They were
informed about various mythological stories and were asked to play Holi with
natural colours and flowers. A dance was performed by few children from
Nursery and K1 levels. All the children had fun by sprinkling paper confetti on
each other. They also danced to the various tunes of Holi songs. A greeting
card made by the children was sent home as a take-away art activity. Videos
related to the festival were shown to the children during the ICT time.
'Republic Day'
'Republic Day' was celebrated at GTM on 25th January 2018. The school premise was decorated with
tri-coloured garlands and event-related charts. Children of all levels came dressed in traditional
attires. K2 children were dressed up as national leaders and shared few sentences about them.
Patriotic
songs were played in the background during the event. An inter-class art competition was conducted as
a
part of the celebration to promote healthy competition amongst the classes. The topics 'Clean and
Green
India' for K1, K2 levels and 'Freedom' for Pre-Nursery, Nursery levels were announced during the
event.
Poster making, a group art activity related to the given topic was made by the children of each class.
The teachers guided the children in making the posters with their spontaneous thoughts. The posters
made
by all classes were exhibited outdoors during the dismissal time. K2, Pre-Nursery and Nursery-A
classes
won the first, second and third prizes respectively. Event-related videos were shown to the children
during the ICT time. Tri-colour sandwich, laddu and khichdi were served to the children during the
snack
time.
'Grandparents Day'
Grandparents are the footsteps to the future generations.
Happy memories and funny moments with them are a keep sake to remember for all the grandchildren. We
believe the same and hence celebrated Grandparent's Day at GT-Gopanpally. The theme for the event was
'Village Mela' .Rangoli designs, hut made of hay, pet animals around the hut, lanterns, kettle, bangle
stall, and a decorated bicycle were used to create the village setup. The event started by welcoming
the
grandparents with the traditional tilak ceremony. A circle time was conducted in which grandparents
introduced themselves. The event included antakshari, few fun filled games, photo booths, sweet
memories
sharing, dancing, singing and many more activities. An art activity collectively made by the
grandparents and the grandchild was taken home as a memory. Delicious snacks was enjoyed by everyone
which included pav bhaji, vegetable cutlet, khowa -puri and tea. Everyone enjoyed the event.
'Makar Sankranthi'
'Makar Sankranthi' was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 10th January, 2018
during the school hours.
Children came to school in their traditional wear. The teachers received them with a warm welcome.
The
school outdoors were decorated with the traditional 'Bommala Koluvu', 'Rangoli', kites, and
harvest-related cutouts. A skit was performed by the teachers and K2 children which explained the
significance of the festival. Few children from all classes performed a dance. Flying the kite and
saying 'Kai Poche' would be remembered as the most significant and joyful moment of this festival.
Music
related to the festival was played during the event. Videos related to the festival were shown during
the ICT time. An art activity, a wall hanging with a kite, pot with rice, and sugarcane cutout was
made
by the children and given as a takeaway. 'Boorelu', a sweet dish made with jaggery and rice, khichdi
were served as the snack. Children enjoyed the celebration.
'Pyjama Party'
Children were excited to come to school in their pyjamas with their favourite pillow and blanket. The
teachers received them with a warm welcome. The school outdoors were decorated with the 'New Year' and
'Christmas' themes in two separate areas, parachute as a tent, colourful series lights, and a separate
place for bonfire. A photo booth was set up with different props and headgears. Music related to the
party theme was played during the event. The circle time, passing the pillow game, snuggled up story
time, the movie with popcorn, dancing outdoors near the bonfire were planned and implemented in a
joyful
way. The event came to an end with a delicious supper that included veg-Manchurian, fried rice and
gulab
jamun. The teachers bid goodbye to all the children, handing over their belongings and wishing each
child 'A Happy New Year'. The children carried memorable moments to share with their family during the
dismissal time. Their happy experiences were shared by the parents on the next working day.
'Christmas Celebrations'
The event had filled the school with festive atmosphere. Christmas tree was decorated and displayed
along with the nativity scene. Teachers decorated the school premises with Santa cutouts, sleigh, and
other handmade props that were related to the festival. Children came to the school, dressed in red
and
white colour dresses. Few children came dressed as Santa.Children were able to understand the
significance of the festival through the nativity skit enacted by the K2 level children . K1 children
sang carols. Few children from Nursery level danced while Pre-Nursery children sang a Christmas carol.
Santa Claus (a teacher dressed as Santa) distributed gifts to all the children.
Annual Sports Meet
Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally celebrated the 3rd Annual sports day (2017-2018) at Open Minds
School, Kollur on 25th January 2017.
The theme for this year being 'Community Helpers' the decoration on the ground was done keeping in
accord with it.
All the track events were planned according to the community helpers (Postman, Beautician, Bee
Keeper,
Fire Fighter, Soldier, Mason, Gardener and Lepidopterist) chosen. The teachers prepared the props
using
the recyclable materials and reused the resources available as we believe eco-friendliness.'Swacch
Bharat Abhiyan' concept was recapitulated through a drill, performed by our Nursery children.
All the children were appreciated for their efforts by presenting them with participation
certificates
as the slogan for the event was "We all are winners."
'Bathukamma' - The unique festival of flowers
Bathukamma was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 19th September 2017. Children
came dressed to the school, in their traditional attire. The event started with the explanation of the
festival's significance to the children. K2 level girls performed a Roleplay (The eight divine forms
of
Goddess Lakshmi/Ashta-Lakshmi). Children of all levels, teachers and didis enjoyed by playing around
the
'Bathukamma', made of colourful flowers. Few children from K1, K2 and Nursery, Pre-Nursery level
performed Garba and Dandiya dance. Children participated enthusiastically during the procession of
Bathukamma immersion. Videos, depicting the significance of the day were shown to the children during
the ICT time. The children carried their craftwork home as a takeaway during the dismissal.
'Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations'
Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 24th August 2017.
Children came dressed to the school, in their traditional attire. The event was celebrated with the
skit performed by the teachers. Children understood the importance of celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi. We
celebrated with an eco-friendly Ganesha idol. Ganesha's favourite food, modak (Laddu) was offered as
Prasad and given to the children during the snack time. Few children from Pre Nursery and Nursery
performed a dance on 'Shree Ganesha song'. Children from K1 and K2 performed a dance in the second
slot.
K2 children sang a song for Aarthi and a chorus song related to the event. Children were provided with
musical instruments, during the procession of Ganesha immersion. After the immersion, children danced
to
the music outdoors. Videos, depicting the significance of the day were shown to the children in the
ICT
time. The children carried their craft work (painted clay Ganesha) home as a takeaway during the
dismissal.
Janmashtami and Independence Day Celebrations
The Janmashtami and Independence Day were celebrated at GT on 11th August, 2017.
Children came to the school dressed, in their ethnic and traditional attire. The school was decorated
depicting the celebrations of the day. Children understood the significance of both the festivals
through dance, music, handi breaking and other activities related to them. K2 level children sang a
patriotic song in chorus. All the children including the staff enjoyed the event.
'Raksha Bandhan/Friendship day'
Raksha Bandhan/Friendship day was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 3rd August,
2017.
The spirit and motto of celebrating friendship, bond of love and affection among family and friends
was
imparted to the children of all levels through a skit performed by a few teachers. Children understood
the importance of maintaining the friendly relation (bond) with friends and family as they play an
equal
role in our lives. The event was celebrated outdoors, decorated with beautiful and creative ideas.
Children came dressed to the school, in their traditional attire. They participated enthusiastically
in
the 'Rakhi Making' activity. K2 children weaved their own friendship band in pairs using multi
coloured
satin ribbons. All the children had fun, tying the 'Rakhi' made by them, on their friend's wrist.
Parents' Day : Theme 'Bollywood'
Parents' day was celebrated with the theme 'Bollywood' at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopannapally on
15th July, 2017. The motto of the theme was 'Not all heroes wear capes'. The teachers' decorated the
environment to depict the theme. The event was funfilled with games, an art activity (takeaway),dance
with music,and other activities. Snack was served to all the parents and children. A 'Tulsi plant' was
given to every family as we believe, "Giving a live plant communicates that we care about their health
and happiness."
'Van Mahotsav Day'
Van Mahotsav was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally on 7th July, 2017.
The spirit of creating awareness about the benefits and protection of trees, the harm caused by
cutting
down of trees was rightly implanted in the minds of the children.
Teachers took an active initiative in enacting a skit, which was written and enacted by the team. The
skit included the 'Chipko movement' and the female activist Amrita Devi Bishnoi.

The event was celebrated outdoors with K1, K2 and Nursery level children together. Pre-Nursery
children joined for the skit enacted by the teachers. K2 children came dressed as different parts of
the plant and shared few sentences about their role. K1 children brought posters made by them (with
the help of their parents) and participated in the rally along with K2 children in the neighbourhood
of the school premises. The children, along with the teachers went in the rally saying out few
slogans
like, "Go Green", "Lend a hand to Save trees", "Jal hai to kal hai", etc,.
Craft activities appropriate to their developmental level and related to the celebration were
conducted in the respective classes. The children carried their craft work home as a takeaway during
the dismissal.

Eid-Ul-Fitr was celebrated at Birla Open Minds Preschool Gopanpally on 23rd June, 2017
The spirit of celebrating Eid, the joy of giving and sharing the happiness was shared with the
children. The arrival time at the GTM entrance was filled with joy and happiness with the children
coming in their traditional attire for the event. The children were amazed to see the decor and asked
the teachers, "Shadi hai?"
A skit depicting the significance of Ramadan was performed by the teachers. The children were
awestruck
with the performance. A Pre-Nursery child watching the skit told his teacher,"Nice." We were convinced
that our journey towards settling our pre-nursery children has been successful as they have started
enjoying their school hours.
A craft activity related to the celebration was conducted in the respective classes. The children
carried their craft work home as a takeaway during the dismissal. A special Ramadan dish 'Sheer
khurma'
was served during the snack time to mark the occassion. The event came to an end by wishing "Eid
Mubarak" and hugging each other.
International Yoga Day
" Yoga is the unifying art of transforming dharma into action, be it through inspired thought,
properly
nurturing our children, a painting, a kindness or an act of peace that forever moves humanity
forward."
We at GTM believe with the saying and celebrated International Yoga Day in our school today.
First Day of School
First impressions matter... especially on the first day of school. Children arrived with a mix of
emotions. The reasons varied from child to child. Children were anxious, excited, happy....about
starting school.

Teacher Training Workshop at GT- Gopanpally
Great teachers help create great students. An inspiring and informed teacher is the most important
school-related factor influencing student achievement. So it is critical to train and support both new
and experienced educators.
GT teachers involved themselves in an exemplary teacher-preparation program by Birla Edutech team

Parent Orientation Programme
The Parent Orientation programme was conducted at Open Minds on 3rd June, 2017. We were glad to have
Ms. Mansi Mehta from BEL with us for the event.
Class Party was celebrated on 31st of March,2017 at GT- Gopanpally
Class Party was celebrated on 31st of March,2017 at GT- Gopanpally as it was the last working day for
children. The children came in coloured dress to school. The school was decorated with cutouts of
teddy
bears and shiny streamers. The children were very excited as they had brought snacks from home to
share
with their friends in the class party. During the music and movement time, children had fun time with
their teachers while dancing to the different music in the classroom. Videos of short cartoon movies
were shown in the ICT room. Children shared their fun moments and memorable experiences before the
dismissal.K2 children handed their 'Thank you card' to all didis and bhaiyyas. The teachers ended the
day by wishing , 'Happy Holidays' to all the children.
Graduation day' for K2 Level Birla Open Minds Preschool,
Gopanpally organised the 'Graduation day' for K2 Level on 25th February 2017 at school. This event
helped the children to understand their relationship with the teachers and freeze their memories spent
in the preschool. The children felt special about stepping towards a bright future with new hopes and
aspirations. It was also an overwhelming experience for the parents as they shared that they had a
very
nice time for being a part of the school all these years.
'Health Camp-2017'
Keeping the health requirements of the children in mind a 'Health Camp-2017' was organised at Birla
Open Minds Preschool, Gopanpally during the school hours on 16th February, 2017. The camp was being
organised by 'Citizen hospital'. The health check up was enjoyed by all the children.
