Students of Grade 1 and K 1 were overjoyed to be back to school after the pandemic on 4th April 2022. They were welcomed by the Teachers and enjoyed various games and activities along with their friends throughout the day. They even made paper craft as their take away and enjoyed puppet show conducted by their teachers.
The seed of learning was planted on the first day and from now onwards students will feel themselves grow and push boundaries of learning everyday.

National Science Day is observed every year on 28th February. Science is all around us – our bodies, in nature, through cooking and gardening to name just a few. Children atschool were given the opportunity to develop their observational skills and identify changes and differences by practicing & performing different experiments during the Science Fair organised virtually.

STEAM is an educational discipline that engages students around the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math. It aims to spark an interest and lifelong love of the arts and sciences in children from an early age.

Art is the best form of self-expression. It can help children learn and practice skills like patterning, cause and effect. Art also fosters the development of children's cognitive abilities.



Hands-on activities allow children to use their senses while learning. Children get excited and engaged because they are having fun. It enhances curiosity, creativity and problem-solving skills.



Vasant Panchami marks the transition from the winter season to the spring season. This year Vasant Panchami was celebrated on 5th February. On this auspicious occasion we pray to goddess Saraswati and offer her flowers and sweets as she is considered the god of knowledge, wisdom, and fine arts.
Our children at Birla Open minds preschool, Chandanagar branch celebrated Vasant Panchami by learning about the importance of Vasant Panchami, and did free Hand drawing as a part of the celebration.



Simple STEM activity such as using a magnets is a wonderful way to get kids thinking, problem-solving, and experimenting with everyday items. Sorting magnetic and non-magnetic objects gives opportunities to children to understand the concept better. It is a fun way of learning.



Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26th January marking India's anniversary of implementation of the constitution of India. Let's pledge to make India a better place with rich experience, love and peace.



Sankranti means transmigration of the sun from one rashi to the next one. It is a 3 days festival celebrated in January every year and marks the termination of the winter season and the beginning of a new harvest season. This year it was celebrated on 14 th January. Children dressed up in Traditional attire and participated in the celebration. They learnt about the importance of Sankranti and made beautiful Kite as an Art activity.

As part of the 'Christmas celebration' our students of Birla Open Minds Preschool Chandanagar participated in a virtual drawing competition to showcase their creative skills.



STEAM-based activities make children more confident. K2 students made a Bird feeder as part of a STEAM activity to enhance their metacognitive skills. Children learnt about the different food the birds eat, measurement and design while making it.



Art can be in any form. It can be a drawing with a pencils or crayons or fine strokes of a brush. To make art a fun subject for our children K2 students drew a bird with the letter 'B' and K1 students drew a giraffe using the outline tracing of their hand and did a paper crumpling activity. These activities encouraged them to explore more with letters, imagination and designs.

Children's day is celebrated on the 14th of November every year on the birth anniversary of Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. The day is celebrated to increase awareness of the rights and education of kids. He considered children the real strength of a nation and foundation of society. Children at Birla Open Minds Preschool Chandanagar celebrated this special day by dressing up as Disney Princess and Superheroes.



Diwali symbolizes the victory of good over evil. It is time to remove the darkness of ignorance within us and replace it with the light of hope and knowledge instead. Diwali 'the festival of lights came alive at Birla Open Minds Preschool Chandanagar when children dressed up in traditional attire and celebrated it by making dry fruit laddus and by painting diyas.



Ideas need to be felt, to be heard. Through Storytelling, we can envision change and it is the most interesting and engaging activity we can practice to nurture children's personality.
Our guest speaker Ms Sunaina did a wonderful job in nurturing our children's personality through her storytelling session.



Educators at Birla Open Minds focus on lessons in early childhood around the basic skills that build up to advanced mathematics in high school .From preschool to the end of elementary school, children are setting the foundation for future life skills.
Math skills taught through different activities in early childhood education are designed to provide the foundation children need to succeed in elementary school and beyond.



Bathukamma and Dussehra celebrations have begun. The common theme of the celebration is the victory of good over evil. The children were explained the significance of the event & they enjoyed the celebration by performing a dance using the Dandiya they made.



Play is fundamentally important for learning 21st century skills, such as problem solving, collaboration and creativity.

We at Birla Open Minds Preschool believe Learning through Play is one of the most important concepts in childhood development. Through play children can learn cognitive, social and language skills, and build the self-confidence needed to navigate challenges in life.



Play dough has long been a staple of early childhood fun. Play dough can keep children occupied for a long time, using their imaginations to create all sorts of doughy fun. Kids really need to have strong muscles in their hands for writing, cutting, and other tasks. Think of all they do with play dough to build those muscles: roll, flatten, chop, cut, poke, squash, pinch, cut, pound, and manipulate!



When students engage in PBL (Project Based Learning), they seek answers, collect information and design the model as they want. Children from Birla Open Minds Chandanagar, made a beautiful project 'Aquarium'. They coloured and stuck the cut-outs of aquatic animals.



Creative activities help to spark children's natural curiosity and create their own journey of exploration, discovery and developments. What's more, it's great fun!



Making learning fun is a sure way we get our kids at Birla Open Minds to remember information. Fun means engagement, doing and learning what has meaning and purpose, and it means being challenged.



When students are engaged and motivated, they achieve higher levels of cognition, make connections, and experience "aha" moments.



Krishna Janmashtami also called Gokulashtami is a grand festival celebrated all over India to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna. Children at Birla Open Minds Preschool Chandanagar, dressed up as little Krishnas and Gopikas and participated in a handi breaking activity online. The students also had an opportunity to listen to a story narrated by one of our parents as a guest speaker.



Integration focuses on making connections for students, allowing them to engage in relevant, meaningful activities that connects different areas of study by cutting across subject-matter lines and emphasizing unifying concepts.
During the ongoing theme "Fun Forest" teachers integrate subjects with each other so that children pursue learning in a holistic way.



'Grandparents' Day is the time to cherish the bonds we share with our grandmothers and grandfathers. They are the pillars of the family. At Birla Open Minds Preschool Chandanagar, children celebrated both grandparent's day and Ganesh Chaturthi with great enthusiasm.



'Raksha Bandhan' or 'Rakhi' is a special occasion to celebrate the virtuous bond of love between a brother and a sister.
Students made beautiful Rakhis . The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity that tickled their creative side.

Students learn the importance about loving their Earth and taking care of it.



Making a Rainforest was a fun on activity through which the K2 children learnt the concepts of Taiga forest and rainforest well.



Story telling is an art which was taken up by Shri. Bimal Prasanna Mohapatra who joined us as a spark speaker and narrated the story 'Lion and the Mouse' in Hindi. Children enjoyed the story session.



The regular practice of yoga and aerobics keeps children healthy. Today Ms. Snehal Garg joined as an eminent speaker who taught few yoga postures and fun aerobics. Children had fun during the session.



STEAM-based learning gives students tools and methods to explore new and creative ways of problem-solving. The children from K2 & K1 were given the opportunity to identify problems & come up with solutions.



Agamograph is an art form that uses optical illusion to create those changes when you look at it from different angles. Today our children of K2, used the agamograph form of art to learn the concept of day and night.



Friendship Day is celebrated every year, on the first Sunday of August. The day marks the importance of friends and friendship in life. To celebrate the occasion virtually, K1 students made beautiful bracelets to show their love for their friends.



During the preschool years, it's helpful to provide kids with a variety of ways to practice writing. It can be fun to think past pencil and paper and use different materials. Today the children showed how a play dough writing tray can be used to practice writing letters and sight words.



Children need to be active every day to promote their healthy growth and development. Be it origami, role-play or show and tell activity. These activities enhance social-emotional development and critical thinking.









Teaching measurement, Sorting and grouping things together and Rainbow drawing are fun and everyday activities. These activities are excellent ways for children to express their feelings and emotions, learn to categorise and develops early literacy and numeracy skills and provides opportunities for introducing measurement vocabulary.







Sculpture activity, Music with utensils and ball activities allows children to develop creativity which is important throughout their lives. They learn new vocabulary, boosts confidence and enhances fine motor skills.







As a part of the ongoing theme about Earth K1 students made a Happy Earth face. Through this activity the children learnt that Earth would be happy only if we keep it clean and use our resources carefully.
